When writing a patent application, you can be your own lexicographer, meaning you can define what a term means. Therefore it is important to clearly define some terms that are not in common usage or that you use in a slightly different manner than normal. You also may want a term to be used in a generic sense rather than a specific sense (see GPS below). A term can have more than one meaning, so feel free to provide your own definition if you don't like one that already exists in this dictionary.
